Taking inspiration from real art documentaries 

looked into real art documentaries on youtube to take inspiration and  hopefully incorporate some of the information i have learned into my own documentary

This documentary involves talking heads, middle shots, close up shots, candid shots to show the artist working, increasing a sense of verisimilitude and realism (observational mode)

I like the middle shots (fly on wall effect) that observe without disrupting, I will like to implement this style for most of my documentary, featuring others (other members of the studio)  to increase that ‘everyday life’ environment to convey authenticity and realism , it further demonstrates the shots aren't scripted or manipulated conveying objectivity and truth to the audience following the process with the artists.

For the opening, I may take inspiration from these clips and shots as it effectively encompasses the ideas I have for the documentary. The first image establishes a sense of direction and narrative, where the viewers are going to be taken on this journey behind this piece. (I could do that or record the journey and reveal the finished product in the end however I think I prefer showing the final project and then guide the audience in the process of ‘the making of.’ both will set the tone in terms of visuals and shots which will lead to a montage of clips like the ones below, capturing the artists at work

(I like how the filmmakers walk around and record so I want to implement this in my own work. They use interviews in a range of shots, mainly  (middle - close ups). Hand held camera is very predominant and does not interrupt but guides the audiences through the artist's process mainly through talking heads, therefore I could maybe do a montage of clips, some interviewing Daniel in the style of talking heads and following the studio around in the style of ‘fly on the wall’. 

Conclusion: 

I want to create a stand alone observational mode of documentary broadcasted on Tuesday from 9pm - 10pm on channel 4 and will be (over 45 minutes) but this project will be only 5 minutes. The aim is to capture the ‘art’ of contemporary art and technology to create a reflection of ourselves and our environment.
