I think it's important to research which documentaries are successful and why to understand the target audience, the filmmakers approach and choices and the meaning and purpose behind these to then apply to mine. This helps me understand how to construct and portray meaning and the message of contemporary art through Daniels studio art production process. Marina Abramovic ‘the artist is present’ and Gerhard Richer ‘painting’ are documentaries featured in this article which I think I can apply some techniques in mine as both ‘The artist is present’ and ‘painting’ follows the artist process and I want to capture a ‘journey’ or a sense of that. ‘The artist is present’ follows Marina Abramovic as she prepares for her exhibition at the museum of art, new york (I know daniel is preparing for a New york exhibition at times square so saw very fitting as both artists are in similar positions. ‘Painting’ provides the behind the scenes view of Gerhard Richter's creative process, showing the artist at work  (exactly what I intend to do in mine)
