Interview Planning and Development

Interview planning and development :

If I were to interview Daniel, I  ultimately aim for the interview to guide audiences, especially those new to contemporary art like I was to gain a better understanding of the ways in which technology can create art and reflect ourselves and our changing environments, and where this may lead in the future.

  1. Are you filming inside or outside? How will this impact on recording?

I'll be filming inside Daniels studio to increase that sense of verisimilitude and realism, to capture the process as it is using the ‘fly on wall’ method to simultaneously make the audience feel they are vicariously experiencing the creative process with the studio

  1. Will there be any noise or ambient sound? How can you eliminate this?

There will most likely be ambient sound , in fact this is key to demonstrate we are in a real environment capturing everything as it is, to convey that sense of authenticity and reality

  1. How will you control the mise en scene?

I will not be controlling the mise en scene as i'll be as well on the journey with the audience filming the studios truths. The mise en scene will not be manipulated as the environment and setting is not up for me to change it, I want to capture the studio with no filters.

  1. How appropriate will the lighting be?

Most likely ambient, available and artificial however the camera will not be affected by any mode as there will be enough light

  1. Will you use more than one camera?

I will most likely use the same camera I used last year for my coursework, which is only one but has two focus lenses so it's quite versatile and therefore I dont have to bring with me a lot of things so I can film without interrupting or causing disruption

Questions :

  1. Can you take(guide) us through the process and inspirations behind (art piece)?

  2.  Why did you decide to use technology to create this piece?

  3. Could you show us how it's programmed?

  4. Can you take us through the materials and construction process (leds etc..)

Upon further contemplation, I dont think I'm going to use interviews. I feel it will be disruptive and as  I plan to approach  filmmaking through the observational mode and using the ‘fly on the wall method’, interviews will not be very suitable for this project. (keeping in mind they are working and im just recording and observing their behaviour and environment to construct my own agenda)

Therefore, my job as a filmmaker is to construct a documentary that guides the audiences through the process without necessarily having Daniel explain it to us. Therefore, my documentary should be structured in a way it anchors meaning and a narrative to convey this creative journey through visuals
